A beautifully illustrated guided journal that helps women slow down and enjoy life rather than pushing for perfection.

Most women today are frantic, lost in an endless cycle of busyness caused by constant pressure to perform up to unrealistic expectations of perfection, many of which are self-imposed. This journal cuts to the heart of the problem by showing women how to reconnect with their inner selves through solitude, introspection, and contemplation of what's truly important to them as individuals and family members. Give yourself permission to be Present, Not Perfect.

  • I bought this about 3 months ago and only go to it once in awhile to do one of the suggested activities for a few minutes before going to sleep. It can help clear my head if I want something not too engrossing. This is not to say that this is a bad book. It’s just not quite what I was looking for.

While I like the cute quotes and drawings, this is not what I expected when I ordered this journal. I thought it was going to be a journal that went deeper into practicing mindfulness and self acceptance with questions or prompts that I could really dive into. In fact, it’s not a journal at all. There is no room on any of the pages to write more than a sentence. This is more like a hand size workbook, albeit a cute and very illustrated workbook. Plus, I don’t think it’s just my preference towards writing instead of drawing that disappointed me because there is not much space to draw either.

The activities, do not strike me as going very deep in learning and practicing mindfulness. They’re more like what I call “mindfulness light” or mindfulness in small bite sizes. For example, one of the activities provides a list of inventions that were made by mistake. The list includes the microwave, play doh, super glue and, post-it notes. You are then encouraged to use one of these inventions during the day as a reminder that failure can lead to success. You’re not asked to go back at the end of the day reflect on what you experienced or learned while completing the activity. It does not leave me with a greater understanding of mindfulness or a lasting appreciation of myself as a unique person.

In my opinion, this book is more like a guide to use when when you’re having a “staycation” or a take it easy type of day. Or, for someone who needs to go very slow in practicing self-acceptance and or self healing. You can also use it as a coloring book for adults. If this is your intention, then this workbook is perfect for you. Just don’t get your expectations up too high as far as practicing deep sustained mindfulness and self acceptance over a long period of time.
  • Ive been in a deep depression the last couple years due to health issues. I wanted to get into meditation but wasn’t sure where to start. This book is a good beginners course in mindfulness. If i don’t do my assignment in the morning my day isn’t right. I’ve started sharing the photos on my social media now my family/friends message me if i miss a day asking what the assignment was😂
  • Beautiful journal. My mother had her first anxiety attack a few weeks ago and thought she was having a heart attack. He doctor told her to relax, start to try and stress less, and do things for her self more often. This is very hard for her. I got this guided journal so she could focus on what was important. SHE LOVES IT! She said it helps her put things into perspective.
  • I like that you can open up and start on any page! This is a great activity journal that helps you practice mindfulness and being in the present.
  • I purchased this for my younger sister who is newly sober. She is using it as a tool in her recovery. She said it is great and so helpful, she even got a few of the young ladies in her sober living house to purchase it as well. She said that they sit and discuss the questions and use it almost as a type of group therapy daily!
  • Bought this for my sister, who is a bit of a perfectionist and worrier. (Aren't we all just a bit?) I flipped through it before giving it away and honestly thought about keeping it for myself. It's chock full of little activities meant to help us slow down and focus on what is happening right now. Might buy myself a copy. Will definitely consider buying more for gifts.
  • This is delightful. Fun layout, simple, easy journaling moments. I am loving my time with this little book. Sometimes I take the ideas and use them in my faculty development or classroom sessions. They are creative fun prompts.
  • This is a good personal journal for those who are looking to relearn themselves after going through a traumatic experience. I do random pages everyday and learn something new about me as well. This was a good buy.
