• I think this book has something to offer to judo players, but with someone with a fair amount of kineseology knowledge I was expecting a little more kineseology in the book based on the title. I would have like more of "Technique X works well because is sets the player up in hip flexion allowing a powerful hip extension driven by the glutes to throw the partner." Or "a common fault for Technique Y is to allow Z to happen which reduces the effectiveness of the lats for throwing." There is some, for example a good explanation of the importance of ankle flexion for outer sweeps, just more nerdy info is what I was looking for.
  
  The book gets into force generation and rotational aspects of judo, which is really kinematics, not kineseology. So overall I thought it was maybe a 3.5-4 star read, but with the misleading title I give it 3.
• Content focuses more on vocabulary than substance. This is a subject ripe for explanation and description. Steve Scott does not convey his expertise in this area the book is a miss.
• Just a few pages in, I knew this work was special. Steve Scott has a masterful ability of articulating ideas that others find difficult to express, then lead us into those ah-ha moments of realization. His depth and breadth of knowledge of the culture, philosophy, mechanics and application artfully combine with his ability to atomize concepts. His instructional prowess has produced a classic that every instructor and upper level student must read - and re-read. Not just for the grappling arts, the value of this book far exceeds its price. Thank you, Steve!
• Seller extremely prompt and good. Great definition. Readable for beginners and Instructors. An important adition to Judo competency.
• Steve Scott presents a simple yet profound approach to teaching the principles of Judo that will give all martial artists an advantage in their art and sport competition as well as in life. As a judo Sandan and Jiu Jitsu black belt I find it not only confirms what I know works but also adds to my arsenal of teaching tools and reminds me of the important concepts of judo and why it works.
• The author broke down the scientific principles related to performing the techniques of Judo. This is a very good book. I highly recommend it. This answers the how and why.
• Whether you are an experienced judoka or an aspiring beginner, this book is a must-have! No matter how much you think you already know, you will gain A LOT of knowledge from this book. The way Steve Scott breaks down each facet of movement and its importance in functional judo technique is a gift to any martial artist. I have added this book to my already large selection of books by Steve Scott, as should every serious judo practitioner.

By March of 2001, the all-new 4th Edition of Michael R. Kelsey's book, Climber's and Hiker's Guide to the World's Mountains and Volcanos, will be ready for sale (for this editon, the words "and Volcanos" has been added for the first time). This book first came out in 1981, but had only 680 pages and no pictures. This 4th Edition has 1248 pages, 584 mapped areas, 650 B+W fotos.

For this edition, and since 1991, the author spent 2 summers, or about 7 months traveling Russian-speaking areas of Central Asia, Russia, the Kavkazian (Caucasus) Republics, and eastern Europe; also another 4 months in east and southern Africa, including 5 islands east of Africa in the Indian Ocean. He also returned to the Caribbean twice, once going to northern South America, plus 2 full months in Indonesia, 2 months in the central Pacific, a month in the Philippines and another month in Japan, 2 months in northeast Africa and the Arabian countries of Oman & Yemen, 1 1/2 months in Southeast Asia, about 4 months going to the eastern USA, Mexico and Canada & Alaska, and another month in Mexico & Central America. While on these travels he made the decision to go after as many active or "live" volcanos as possible. The reason for this is, everyone enjoys a close look at, and the exilerating experience of a real live, belching, rumbling, snorting, smoking or quaking volcano.

To the author's knowledge, this is the only book around that is a climbing guide to volcanos and/or the volcanos of the world. On maps featuring a volcano, a paragraph on its eruptive history is included, along with how to get there, how long it will take to climb, something about transportation & hotels, where water and campsites are, etc, etc.

The author has now traveled to 223 countries, republics, islands or island groups, and has personally visited, been close to, and/or has climbed a mountain on more than 91% of the total mapped areas in this new 4th Editon.

• Fair price and nice update, Would definitely recommend!
• I did not have any problems with the book. It arrived in mint condition like brand new. I only paid $0.75 for the book itself and 4 dollars for the shipping and handling. It was used book but I could have been easily fooled because when I opened the package the book was in wonderful even nearly perfect condition and it only cost me $5 dollars for it. Worth the buy.
• Kelsey, the man the myth.
  This guy is my hero, he's a good guy, well traveled and well educated.
  The guy is in his seventies and continues to out hike people in their 20's.
  His books are a must for anyone who hikes, backpacks, canyoneers that lives on/around the Colorado Plateau or abroad.
  It's going to suck when he's gone.

• Since this book covers the entire world, each mountain route is not descibed in detail, but this book is truely amazing. There is no other more comprihensive guidebook out there and this book may be one of the all time classics of any guidebook out there.

• For me this book really was a one star. I settled for in the middle since I know there are people out there who will really like all the steamy scenes. Honestly I didn’t mind all the steam but the plot suffered for it. We had this great set up for a problem in book one that was solved really fast... Sadly. Then we had another half baked problem that never really got footing since the main focus was on her making the bonds. I would have like to have more. This book was too short and the plot suffered for it. Then the last chapter it is like all of a sudden they realized they needed a plot and we had a bunch of confusing instances that ended in a cliff hanger. I’m guessing that problem will also be solve quickly in the next book, but I won’t buy that one. I honestly wish I didn’t read this one.
• The heat level in this book is turnt all the way up. Thankfully, the team being on the run wasn't dragged out. They got found right away which led to a pretty big development. It was unexpected, but I like it. Marcella is getting stronger rapidly and her vampire comes out to play often. I'm enjoying the development of the harem and I can't wait to see what comes next after that ending.
  
  My only issue is that a few transitions felt kind of disjointed. One moment, the team is one place and the next, They are someplace else. It threw me off a bit while reading, but I was able to get past it.
• Paranormal. Rh. 6 vampires. Marcella and the guys are on the run from the council. Also running into some unexpected problem. This books focus is on making bonds and new abilities. Big cliffhanger going on. Excellent.
• Talk about fast paced. The brothers and their sixth barely get to catch their breath as the hits keep coming. This is an awesome story and I'm in agony for book 3. I read book 1 yesterday, this story is THAT good
• Wonderful series. It’s a must read. Great story line and characters. Can’t wait for book number three to come out.
• This is the second book in Salsang Chronicles. You definitely need to read the first book to fully understand and appreciate the second book. The author has created a complex and fascinating world, but more details are given in the first book that not only provide worldbuilding but show how the characters’ relationships evolve.
  
  Marcella and her Brotherhood are on the run. They think they found a safe house, but it is compromised rather quickly. Darius shows up, and something that I won't give away of a most surprising nature occurs, shocking Marcella, the Brotherhood and Darius. Darius states he is there to give them a mission.
  
  What exactly is this mission? Is Darius what he seems? How will Marcella's relationship with the Brotherhood change in this book? What dangers will they come up against?
  
  I enjoyed seeing how Marcella took to her powers as a newly created but rogue Sixth. She definitely has powers that most Sixths don’t, surprising herself, her Brotherhood, and higher-ups in the council! I also enjoyed watching her evolving relationships with the men in her Brotherhood. Too, it was interesting to watch how the men's interaction changed as their relationship evolved with Marcella.
  
  Like the first book, this one told in alternating viewpoints between Marcella and members of the Brotherhood. As I found previously, I didn't feel like there was enough distinction between their voices to make each narrator truly unique. There was less profanity in this book than the previous one, which I appreciated. For some reason, even though I read both books, I had a hard time distinguishing each member of the Brotherhood. Who's the mind walker? Who's the half-druid? Who's the half-shifter? Which one's moody? Which one's tough? Which is puppy-like? What exactly is each of their talents? I almost got out an index card to try to keep track of their names, nicknames, abilities, and personalities.
  
  Even though this is the second book of the series and the author states that the first book should be read previous to embarking on this one, I thought there needed to be little refresher course about some of the aspects of this world. It has been a little while since I had read the first book, so had forgotten what some of the specialized vocabulary used here meant.
  
  The book had the common issues with grammar, punctuation, and usage, but I didn't find this overly distracting.
  
  If you enjoy paranormal books that are based on groups working together, you might find this series interesting. I sincerely hope that this series continues for a long time as I do love the world the author has created.

• Not sure about this book. I liked the mc on book one but on this one not too much. Her attitude and treatment of Darius didn't make was irritating. She just met him and then she hated him immediately.
  
  The storyline was slow. Didn't liked Gideon on this book. His winy poor me being left out of the sex group got irritating especially when he admitted he has to sleep with other females to recharge his power in the past. This was brought up in the middle of the sex scenes too. The ending was rushed. Worst part was the cliffhanger ending since it didn't make sense.
• I freaking loved this book! So much that I read it in one sitting...I really like Marcella. She struggles with her past & needs to feel loved but she has an excellent grasp on who she is and her faults. In this book she really starts to grow into her powers and it's amazing to see how she wields them. All of her guys are awesome and we really get to know them better in this book. She also has a new addition to her men that was surprising but I have to admit I'm loving him! It was a great read and if you haven't started this series run out and get book 1 Stained Egos - I promise you'll love it.

• I've never read any of Ms Hill's books before and am happy to say I found this novel interesting and kept me engaged in the story and characters. What I did have a problem with is ID'ing who was speaking sometimes. i'd need to re-read a paragraph. Also ID'ing what person she was eluding to. Other than that it was a fast paced story, the character development was good - but I was disappointed with the element of the key. Left me wanting - but not disappointed enough in the ending that i'd lower the rating.
• Excellent mystery, great characters, wonderfully written. Finn, a salty ex cop, now private investigator, meets a women in a bar and has a wonderful night. Months later fate takes a hand and in walks a client who wants Finn to see if his wife is cheating. Also, in walks a beautiful women looking for a job, guess who the women is!
  
  I hope it’s a series.
• Another Gerri Hill home run. When I was reading this one I kept thinking of Hunter. I loved the how we got mystery, thriller and humor all wrapped up neatly. I loved how we saw the characters became friends, and lovers. Like normal Gerri had us sitting on the edge of our seat. I definitely recommend this book.
• I am a big fan of Gerri Hill. I started reading her Xena fan fiction many years ago and have follower since, so I can honestly say that this book is up there as one of her top ten books! If you haven't read any of her books you are really missing out. This is a must read!
• Another absolutely fantastic book by Gerri Hill, in much the same vein as Hunter's Way. A great mystery and interesting characters, with love and friendship growing amid the chaos. LOVED IT!!!
• I totally enjoy reading books by Gerri Hill! I love all her books and this one was amazing! Loved the characters as well as the story. Her books always has that excitement that is hard to put the book down. For now, I will have to wait for her next book and hope it is a sequel but no matter what, I am sure it will be great.

• The book is interesting to read, but it is hard to trust a book that claims to be history but contains glaring and easily-researched errors, and almost no footnotes. Two errors the author speaks of a character living near the Virginia-West Virginia border in the 1850s, but West Virginia did not exist until 1863. There was no state border and Harpers Ferry was in Virginia, not West Virginia. Then he says Senator Blanche Bruce died in 1883, when Bruce did not die until 1898. Sloppy. Nevertheless, the characters are interesting and the stories well worth reading for more depth in Black American history.
• This book tells the stories of six entrepreneurs born into slavery and Jim Crow but became millionaires despite their black identity. Not only did they create great wealth for themselves, they pioneered industries and built cities during their lifetime.
  
  Here are my top five takeaways from the book
  
  1. Creating wealth is not a special talent, it is a discipline, the discipline to save money - Cash they say is king. When opportunities knock (and they always do), be sure to bring plenty of it to the door. So, always have liquid cash in bank!
  2. Purpose precedes fortune – their mission in the business world was simple. To empower as many people of color as they can with the opportunities they’ve been given. So, discover THE WHY behind your pursuit of wealth!
  3. The family unit is where true wealth starts and sadly ends – they all either attained greater levels of financial success or lost it all largely because of the choice of their spouses. So, choose wisely!
  4. Crises are wealth in disguise – if they had any special talent that will be this, understanding - that crises are cyclic, they come and go, and leave wealth making opportunities behind. So, embrace your current crisis!
  5. If cash is king, succession is the key to the kingdom – while their legacy today is clear, unfortunately the wealth they created did not outlive any one of them. The fortitude and grit needed to create the wealth, became waned or too little to continue the fight needed to preserve it for the next generation. So, think generationally!
• Excellent book. These are great stories. Author did and excellent job of bring this book to life. We need more books like!!!
• A well-written work, Shomari Wills uses solid research and great storytelling to uncover the hidden truth of remarkable African American entrepreneurs that accumulated wealth while navigating treacherous social, political, psychological barriers, physical violence and personal shortcomings. The story of black wealth and all the ways that white racism fights against it is not taught in schools. The story of Indians owning slaves and fighting with the Confederacy to maintain slavery and battle against U.S. intentions to steal Indian lands is not taught in schools. Wills reveals truths that are not commonly known when among African American historians (Madame C.J. Walker was not actually a millionaire, nor as financially successful as her mentor, for example, or that Greenwood was rebuilt after it was destroyed by the white racist mobs. This is s fascinating read. Wills forced a more nuanced understanding of the role of black wealth in dismantling white supremacy in a capitalist society.
• First of all, shame on the American school system for not teaching black people ALL about their history. Noooo we as black people only learned about slavery and some minor things that only represent a very small percentage of our heritage. Why am I 43 and just now learning about these African American millionaires from the 1800's? I guess our part and contribution in American history is not important. Well thank God for books like this. I am not even finished with it, but had to review it already. I was telling my 21 yr old daughter about it. She's excited to read it when I'm finished. I will order one for my son in another state. Shame on the American school system only teaching HIStory (HIS STORY)
• I loved the details and events expressed in this book. It documented major moves in history. It was both inspiring and enlightening. A must read for all African- Americans who are in pursuit of accomplishing their own dreams.

• Excellent book. I would highly recommend it. It show the importance of having self confidence and being willing to adapt to changing circumstances. The book is well written to capture the interest of the reader. It also demonstrates how far we have come over the last 150 years for Americans and 180 years for the British colonies. It is highly recommended on my list of books to read. it would be of value to persons of all races. Demonstrates how unkind and barbaric racism is, in a very engaging read.

• This is the third time I've read this book, and have gained a new appreciation for it, as I had as a companion piece Matthew Bruccoli's Some Sort of Epic Grandeur. He devotes 93 pages to Fitzgerald's process and struggle with this, his last complete novel. It took him nine years, with many false starts. It was not until 1930-1931 that he wrote five short stories that allowed him to develop themes that would later be incorporated into Tender is the Night—"One Trip Abroad", "The Hotel Child", Babylon Revisited", "On Your Own", and "Emotional Bankruptcy". It was these stories that allowed him to write Zelda and himself into the novel. Zelda's mental illness is the catalytic event , but the subject of the novel becomes Fitzgerald's waste of his genius as expressed through the career of Dr. Richard Diver, who plunges from great promise to failure.
  Fitzgerald finally has material he feels strongly about Zelda's breakdown, and his own deterioration. He has a store of painful emotions to draw from. Dick Diver is ruined by the rich at the simplest level, but the true source of his collapse is his need to be loved and admired, leading him to squander his emotional capital. He succeeds at curing his patient-wife at the cost of his own career.
• Most High School kids are well aware of the Great Gatsby, but I really enjoyed this Side of Paradise. The World has come a long way, since this book was first written, and yet much of the story is kind of a modern tale. Given the world of Social Media where High school and College never end, it’s pretty much standard for kids to seek Status, instead of seeking opportunity. And if you’re into epic prose, witty banter, and style, then you can truly never go wrong with a Fitzgerald book. Now more than ever, the Status Seeking, Social Climbing, Style Conscious, Social Media addicts need to get back to This Side of Paradise.
• Sure, we all recognize this as an American classic. But, unless you're a Fitzgerald completist, an alumnus of Princeton, a fan of books edited by Max Perkins, or keen on post-World War I American fiction or lost generation fiction, the continuing relevance of this particular book, (as opposed to "The Great Gatsby"), might escape you. I sympathize. But, there is a very nice volume, in the public domain, that's available as a freebie from . If you are curious, want to see what the fuss was about, or just in a browsing mood, this is a fine, readable edition. I was actually a bit surprised by some of the places Fitzgerald went with this book, and enjoyed many of the scenes and bits of conversation, and so ended up happy I had taken it up.
  
  I found and read the freebie public domain edition of this book. It has been available here on for many years. I read the download on a Touch.
  
  The book is well formatted and presents well on the . The native font is fine, but all the options - font selection, font size, line spacing, and margins - work properly. The book has a sloppy Table of Contents which I did not find to be active. The "Go To" function was a better choice for navigation anyway. There are no notes or annotations, and no editor foreword or supplementary material, apart from one page of production notes. This is a bare bones, but faithful, transcription of the text. This copy avoids the dreaded error where a letter, (usually "f" or "t" for some reason), has been omitted everywhere in the text. The text here is clean. There are no, (or very, very few), odd page breaks, no paragraphing problems, no garbled sentences, and no other format issues.
  
  Bottom line - this is an excellent choice for browsing or experimenting and a nice freebie find.
• F. Scott Fitzgerald's anthem to the Lost Generation, "This Side of Paradise" gave me insight into the effect of war on a generation. The description of the carefree, pampered years of a boy reared in the world of private schools and elite universities showed us an inward looking generation indoctrinated in the beliefs of their parents. The crucible of World War I refined the generation into one that developed their own wisdom and generational spokesmen. I saw many parallels Fitzgerald's generation and today's post 9/11 youngsters.
