Penny Whistle SickinBed Book What to Do with Kids When They're Home for a Day a Week a Month or More Meredith Brokaw Annie Gilbar Jill Weber 9780671786915 Books Reviews

  • Great purchase! This book is full of great ideas for entertaining kids who are sick at home and we will definitely pull this out the next time anyone in our family is sick in bed. My daughter is 6 and many of the activities are perfect for her age. I thought my husband would roll his eyes when he saw the purchase, but he was so inspired when we received the book in the mail that he and my daughter began playing the games immediately!

I especially liked the idea of putting together a special sick in bed box full of treasures and activities that may only be accessed when kids are sick at home, as during those times, games/toys that are played with on a daily basis tend to not hold a child's attention for too long.

I would have given the book five stars if the recipes were more healthy. Although there was the token recipe for chicken soup, most of the recipes were extremely high in sugar and/or dairy. Two things that should be avoided when kids are sick with a cold/flu/infection. Still, this book has much to offer. I don't look forward to our next sick day, but when it comes, we'll be ready!
  • Received in great shape
  • Penny Whistle was everything I hoped it would be. I am always looking for ways to entertain my nephew and Penny Whistle has given me ideas for those shut in days at home.
  • This book was a gift to me from my mom and I loved it. It gave me ideas for many activities to do while sick. The reciepes are tasty. I became an aupair and this book was a neccesity. Even if the kids were not sick, we were able to to some nice calm fun indoors on not so nice days outside. (like clay making and shadow puppet shows) Now, I am useing this book for my child and husband. No matter how old you are you can use this book to make anyones day a little brighter.
  • My son got mono at age 5 and I needed a lot of activities to keep a little sick boy entertained. This book includes recipes, crafts, activities, videos, and more to keep a harried parent from screaming....
It worked wonders and kept us from relying on the electronic babysitter too much.
